Anzac Day on 25 April is an integral event in our city’s annual calendar. This national day of remembrance commemorates all New Zealanders killed in war and honours returned servicemen and women.
At 6am, a dawn service of remembrance will be held at the War Memorial in Te Marae o Hine - The Square. This will be followed by a civic commemoration service at 9am.
Each service will be 50 minutes to 1 hour long and you’re welcome to attend both.
Please ensure you’ve had breakfast and some water before attending the services to prevent fainting. Feel free to bring a foldout chair to sit on as seating will be limited.
Parking will be available in and around Te Marae o Hine.
Dawn Service of Remembrance
This service will begin with an official opening and a set number of veterans and personnel will lay wreaths during the lament, to commemorate their comrades in arms.
