The Meteor and Browsers Bookshop Literary Salon returns for October! Painting, Stage and Screen will all feature, as we have a feast for the senses with writers who use these ways to express their ideas. Join us for a night of discussion and inspiration with these multi-talented local wordsmiths!
Stephanie Christie– Poet and visual artist, who’s first solo exhibition I’ve never felt more human reflects a time of extreme experimentation and is currently on in our Nancy Caiger Gallery. Stephanie is an accomplished performance poet and this is a rare chance to experience an artist obsessed with words made physical.
Sash Rinaldi (Ngati Tūwharetoa) is a Kirikirioa-based filmmaker, writer, and actor. An Honours Graduate of Screen and Media Studies from the University of Waikato, he is currently co-Manager of the 48 Hours Filmmaking competition and has been creatively involved in numerous independent short films, including the award-winning shorts “Star Wars Hunter” (2011) and “The Anniversary” (2017) which won Best Film at Tropfest New Zealand. He is currently writing a new Action/Adventure film set in Colonial Aotearoa.
Local legend Michael Switzer is the writer of many plays including One Hill of a Fight, Booom! and Atonal Heart (with James Cain). One of his Christmas shows, Pirate Xmas, is on again this December at Riverlea Theatre. He works at a local primary school and is married with two children.
Our special MC for this Salon is the formidably talented Nick Clothier– poet, actor, musician, ceramicist, singer, and Renaissance Man, uniquely suited to get the best from these artists and their respective mediums!
Come along to this inspiring and interesting evening for writers and readers to meet and converse.
Tickets includes a glass and some nibbles. Available online or Door Sales at The Meteor on the night.
We look forward to seeing you there!
