Womad is one of the longest running, best culturally established festivals on the planet and Taranaki is the home to Womad New Zealand!
The festival has grown to eight stages, featuring an eclectic and cross-cultural line-up bursting with talented musicians, artists and inspiring speakers.

Womad New Zealand was first held in Taranaki in 2003. The festival was a biennial event from 2003-2007 until it was made annual in 2008.
Each year the three- day festival attracts an audience of over 30,000 attendees. It presents over 300 performers from different countries, 70 food and craft stalls and its presentation that is supported by a volunteer workforce of around 1000 people.
